Prom Queen” writer/artist SHANELL aka SNL to unveil solo record “Play in My Band” on Young Money Summer Tour

Quickly rising pop/rock/urban artist and songwriter SHANELL aka SNL will rejoin Lil Wayne and her Young Money labelmates to debut her new record “Play in My Band” hitting major venues in over 20 cities in the US and Canada on what will be one of the hottest tours of the summer. Most recently known for co-writing the breakthrough rock single Prom Queen, SHANELL will introduce her own unique sound on this tour and continue to perform alongside Lil Wayne to hits and fan favorites like Lollipop, Mrs Officer, Mr. Carter, Misunderstood, and of course Prom Queen. Other artists touring include Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Drake, Jeremih and fellow Young Money artists Mack Maine, Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz, Nicki Minaj, Lil Twist, and Chuckee. The America’s Most Wanted Music Festival kicks off July 27, 2009 in Scranton, PA at the Toyota Pavilion. Tickets are currently available through Ticketmaster and LiveNation.
 

SHANELL aka SNL is creating her own lane musically and visually and pushing the envelope from lyrics to costume design to choreography to the edgy hair, makeup and nose-ring-with-a-chain that she rocks with style. Already respected as a creative force in industry circles, SHANELL has penned songs for an array of artists including Danity Kane and Kelis and has collaborated as an artist and writer with heavy-hitters like Ne-Yo, Usher, Beyonce, and Keri Hilson. Weezy fans and music connoisseurs alike have tracked SHANELL’s musical contributions on mixtapes like Dedication III, The Leak, The Girls Club Vol. 1 and an exclusive version of the multi-platinum The Carter III album. Last spring, audiences nationwide watched her rock out on stage throughout the I AM Music US Tour with Lil Wayne and T-Pain as well as TV performances on The View and MTV’s Spring Break.
 

“Play in My Band,” produced by Willy Will and featuring Lil Wayne, fuses rock n’ roll drums and guitar with hard-hitting hip-hop beats and a touch of sultry R&B melodies. Her forthcoming self-written debut album includes collaborations with cutting edge, hit producers like Bangladesh (A Milli), Catalyst, Soundz, and combines an innocent 80’s inspired pop/rock vibe with a no hold barred approach to her lyrics and subject matter.

This summer SHANELL plans to keep her fans plugged in with a video Tour Diary sponsored by MySpace Music along with a viral contest for young aspiring musicians to submit clips to win show tickets and backstage meet and greet opportunities. She will also be releasing a limited edition music sampler to fans on tour called “A Taste of SHANELL aka SNL.”
